Fedora Core 9 is an older version of the popular Fedora Linux that can be installed on both PC and Apple computers. The Fedora operating system is free to download and use and requires no registration or activation like Windows and Macintosh operating systems. To install Fedora Core 9 on a computer, you need to create a boot disc with Fedora Core 9 installation files on the disc. The Fedora Core Project offers a variety of ready-to-burn disc images that function as boot discs
Instructions
- Download the Fedora Core 9 ".iso" files for your computer. You can download a single DVD ".iso" file if you have a DVD burner or multiple CD ".iso" files if you have a CD burner.
- Download and install ImgBurn from the link in the Resources.
- Run ImgBurn. Click on "Write image file to disc."
- Insert a blank disc into your CD/DVD drive.
- Use the ImgBurn file browser to locate the Fedora Core 9 ".iso" files downloaded in step 1. Select the first ".iso" file if you downloaded the CD versions.
- Click the "Write" button to begin creation of the boot disc.
- Insert another disc when the first disc is finished. Continue burning discs until all ".iso" files have been burned to a disc. If you downloaded the DVD ".iso" then you will only need to burn one disc.
- Restart your computer with the first disc in your CD/DVD drive and boot your computer from the disc.
