Finally Quake LIVE is Available for Linux!

Today ID Software finally releases Quake LIVE client for linux and mac(0.1.0.256). You can go to the website, register an account and download the plugin for Firefox(1.4MB). Do not forget to restart your browser after installing the extension to continue the installation process.

What is Quake LIVE?

Quake Live is a browser plugin-based first person shooter video game developed by Id Software. It is a variant of its predecessor, Quake 3 Arena, running a slightly updated version of this game's engine. The focus is on usability enhancements rather than graphical upgrades, including the plug-in that runs compile code on the user's processor and a more streamlined heads-up display.

Don't expect any graphical wonders from this game; based on a title released in 1999, it's meant to have a quick and simple installation procedure for casual gaming or maybe aid team-bonding through lunch break tournaments.

Update: If voices are distorted, run s_mixahead 0.3 in command line (in-game command line). I had this issue on Ubuntu Karmic Alpha 4.
