Why there are Ridges on F and J buttons on QWERTY keypad

keypad-ridges-f-f You must have noticed ridges on F and J buttons on a QWERTY keypad. They help in touch typing by defining the home position of your fingers.


Keyboard home row The way your home position in touch typing is ASDF for left hand and JKL; for right hand.
So by having ridges on F and J keys you can position your fingers properly on your keypad without looking on it.
